Serramist Says:

Jun 9, 2008 - I know three people who have had gastric bypass done and after five years, they have regained all their weight plus. The stomach stretches. That is why they only guarantee it for that legnth of time. I think I will lose the weight the watch what I eat way.

siouxlandrenwench Says:

Jun 13, 2008 - Thank you for your honesty! I was almost talked (forced) into the RNY but I waited an extra 2 years and got the lap band 5/10/07. Im so grateful I did. Even though your answer is no, let me tell you that you look wonderful!

acluzog Says:

Jun 23, 2008 - yeah thanks im sure fat people appreciate what some NPR dyke has to say about modern medicine. i'll be sure to take your meaningless opinion concerned a procedure you couldn't ever understand. also take care of your fucking children instead of making youtube videos. your husband looks like a real stud too. your life is one big failure and you just keep vlogging, sport, the internet really cares what you have to say. its no wonder the father left you

meltingmamamelted Says:

Jun 23, 2008 - Uh, thanks.

anji75 Says:

Jun 25, 2008 - Thank you so much for this video. I am about 300lbs and have no health problems, 32 yrs old. It is so true about the vanity. I have been on the fence about the surgery and watched other video, you get the good and bad. The HMO that I go to in Ca uses this as "prevention" and the Dr's are quick to offer weight loss surg whether your health or not, like some type of mircle cure. I still have alot of thinking to do but thank you once again.

flaka1303 Says:

Jul 4, 2008 - To the person who commented below - acluzog - She is letting us know her experience, so of course she understands it. Plus, if you are so interested in "fat people" and gastric bypass. Why don't you educate yourself?

PBottomPoochies Says:

Jul 12, 2008 - Good to hear someone be up front about the pros and cons. I think most of us DO go into weight loss surgery out of vanity, and I also think there are far too many surgeons jumping on the bandwagon (no doubt bc the windfall of vanity pts who can[t get ins. to cover it) so willing to do the surgery when you don't have that far to go. I just can't believe some of the ppl allowed to do it!

ali55a Says:

Jul 13, 2008 - Sorry if I disagree with you but it's easy to say that you regret your GBP now that you're not 300 pound anymore.. I'm 260 and my mental health is CRAP. I'd rather take vitamins til the rest of my life than wake up every morning and wishing to die instead of go out of my bed. It's not always loosing weight=looking good..

meltingmamamelted Says:

Jul 13, 2008 - But, what if the WLS kills me?

lesiab Says:

Jul 14, 2008 - If you would have decided not to have the surgery you would have so many worse problems, not hypoglycemic but diabetes, not anemia but maybe what heart disease or edema. The issues you encounter after the surgery are nothing when compared to the ones you face as you age being a obese person. And the who care how you look if your dead comment is ignorant. Many many more people die from obesity than from gastric bypass.

meltingmamamelted Says:

Jul 14, 2008 - Agreed.

iamgrimey Says:

Jul 16, 2008 - your a cutie. whats up with that bootie

mightyclog Says:

Jul 17, 2008 - That is how they speak in the US...

meltingmamamelted Says:

Jul 19, 2008 - At least I thought it was? Ah well.

bowulf Says:

Jul 19, 2008 - I appreciate the very honest look at WLS. I was VERY close to WLS at 429 pounds 4 years and 211 pounds ago and can understand the desperate nature of those 200+ pounds overweight. I thankfully escaped with my health still intact. I couldn't imagine my life if I finally got skinny only to not be able to appreciate it due to medical issues. Thank you.

melodymr Says:

Jul 23, 2008 - Thank you for this video!! it make me change my mind about the wls. thank youu!! thank you!!

docpinchem66 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - I started 500 pounds and 5yrs later I'm at 210 and still losing. The Dr's say i should have skin remove. But will loose another 50 to 70 pounds.I'm 6'3". I think if i do that i will look like death warmed over and look close to that now.

reeceegirl Says:

Jul 27, 2008 - My cousin died from complications after having had WLS. She had post-op seizures that were unexplainable and never ceased until death. She was 29 with two sons, both under the age of 5. I wonder if they would agree with you saying her comment was ignorant, when they're missing their mother. I had WLS & for 3 years have had multiple proceedures to combat the myriad of complications. Please don't minimalize the ominous nature of post-op life for those of us who combat diminished health.

christaluvsdrama Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - I appreciate you posting this. If I had got that surgery it would have been for vanity reasons as well. I'm very young, but had considered the surgery after hearing on the "tv" and then seeing it when my aunt got it. Seeing her with her minimal issues after her surgery, I wasn't discouraged not to do it until I started to hear stories of the life after-effects like yours. I decided to loose weight on my own and I'm happy to say that it was the best way for me.

Ellewilliams Says:

Jul 29, 2008 - I'm so sorry to hear about you cousin passing reeceegirl.. on the flip side, my sister passed in march at 29 from a massive heart attack due to obesity... she left behind a beautiful 8 yr old daughter.

narcissisticfatchick Says:

Aug 7, 2008 - thank you for your honest answer, you are doing many viewers (like me) a service...

Aug 19, 2008 - Thank you!! I am considering getting a Lap Band and your story on convinces me. You gave up the extra weight and gained poor health. I have no comorbidities, I am 26 and just fine. Oh yeah, I do weigh over 300 as well though. You are convincing me that my choice of the Lap Band is the right one.
