Alphabet in BSL. Please be very patient with me, as BSL is not spoken much at all here in the US. We mostly speak ASL here, which is entirely different from BSL.

Jul 25, 2008 - Just letting you know, I know little ASL, and I know VERY little BSL. I sign mostly in PSE, or Pigin Signed English, as I am slowly learning ASL, which is to me a foreign language.

Jul 25, 2008 - Honestly I don't know. I'll tell her about you, her name is Kathi.

Jul 25, 2008 - BSL is primarily spoken in the UK, I believe.
badfinger111 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - I certainly didn't for sure. I thought it was universal as music or mathematics.

Jul 25, 2008 - Which country is she in? That usually gives me a pretty good idea which sign language is being spoken. Do tell her about me. I would really like to learn both ASL and BSL.
badfinger111 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - I'm sure if you two sign eachother, you'll learn just fine. :)
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - It sure isn't universal. It has been an eye-opening experience for me to watch various sign languages on YouTube and see the vast differences. That's how I learned the BSL alphabet, by watching YouTube videos.

Jul 25, 2008 - Kathi is a good friend of mine and one of my best friends sister. They live in Michigan, so, she live's in America.
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - And, if she signs another sign language, I can learn that as well. :o)
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Then it's most likely ASL, or American Sign Language. ASL is also spoken in Canada (except Quebec, where they have their own sign language), parts of Africa, and some other places, by the way.
badfinger111 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Are you good in music or mathematics or art?
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - I want to learn ASL, BSL, and other sign languages, because I very much want to travel someday, and to communicate with the Deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing wherever I go. It's a whole other field of linguistics, the field of sign language linguistics. I would really love to get a degree in that someday at Gallaudet if I am ever given the opportunity to do so.

Jul 25, 2008 - I aced first-semester calculus last semester in college, and I also sing somewhat. I also had two years of drama classes in high school. I want to eventually get a degree in biochemistry.
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Thanks for asking! :o) I am especially concerned about the Deaf and deafblind in other countries, especially in Third World countries, that don't have as great of access to disability-accessible education and information like we have in the US, and yet are faced with the horrors of things like AIDS, malaria, natural disasters, and other things. I will most likely someday branch out into various other signed languages.

Jul 25, 2008 - Very interesting! :) I thought so. :):):) Will let you go now, and will send Kathi a message about ya. Take care. :)
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Yes, please do! :o) Have a great evening!

Jul 25, 2008 - And thank you for being so awesome. You truly are wonderful. You have the most refreshing spirit I've experienced in under a minute, all week! =)
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Why thank you! Flattery will get you everywhere...especially if chocolate chip cookies are included. lol
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Thanks for the compliment! :o) BSL is a language that is not taught or spoken in the US, and so it is not all that easy for Americans to learn it. I have to rely completely on the Internet for instruction. I am going to check out amazon (dot) com and Ebay soon, though, for used elementary BSL books. I consider it to be learning a foreign language, just like one would learn Spanish or French. I can't very well sign with BSL speakers here in the US, but I can at least do it online.
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - I plan on making a video soon of the alphabet in ASL, and one comparing the alphabets of ASL and BSL. If anything that I am signing is unclear, please let me know. Also, there are YouTube videos of the exact same subject that are a lot better than mine. By the way, I have a copy of the Jesus film in ASL. I looked at the list of available languages for that film, however, and BSL is not on that list. There seems to be a real need for good Messianic online instruction in ASL and BSL.

Jul 25, 2008 - The fact of the matter is that I really do care about people, especially those with disabilities. That could enter into this. :o)

Jul 25, 2008 - I accidentally deleted your comment about your being disabled by your "male brain" and your cookie addiction. Oops! Sorry about that! You know, that cookie addiction can be oh so very debilitating! lol
nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - I keep accidentally deleting your comments! I have no idea what is up with me today, and why I keep doing that! Yikes! LOL! I totally understand about how hard it is to cut out that cookie addiction. I am glad that she is doing so much better after attending OA and addressing the issues with white flour and white sugar.

Jul 25, 2008 - Me too! By the way ***** to your vid because I can't rate it so! :) Stay wonderful!

nonew3 Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - Yeah. Most hearing people don't realize that there are so many sign languages.
