These road plates would be 'bad news' if any fully loaded big truck were to drive over them. After seeing this, I bugged the TCPs to cordon them off. You're looking at ten foot wide plates over a six foot wide trench. I'm not an engineer, but I think that's not even close to safe! The truck you see in this video was a mostly empty single axle garbage truck. A fully loaded readymix or dump truck would probably have fallen through. See my 'Stuck Concrete Truck' video, and you'll know why I say that. This vid was shot at the same site, on the same job.

May 17, 2008 - I made a mistake. They were actually 8 x 12s, with the 12 foot side placed across the trench. Even though, it made me queasy just looking at them. No way I'd drive a loaded truck across that setup.

May 17, 2008 - Good job picking out the 'Litter Bug' on that. Not too many yellow garbage trucks around.

May 17, 2008 - god, we used two 8' x 8' plates for just a little 2' trench.
