Words: Paul Fisher Video: Natalee Hazelwood This is the super-sized remote control car created by Bedfordshire engineers when they turned a two-and-a-half tonne 4x4 into the ultimate boys' toy. Dr James Brighton, Dr Kim Blackburn and Dr Terence Richards, from Cranfield University's off-road dynamics facility, spent a month of their spare time turning the giant Hummer H3 into the world's premier hand-held driving machine. And they took the vehicle through its paces for the media on Thursday. Dr Brighton, who has been an off-road engineering lecturer at the university since 1998, said: "This project has shown that working with off-road vehicles can be great fun as well as a great challenge. www.bedfordtoday.co.uk March 2008
