So, for one of my classes at MSU this summer, we had to 1) write a play, and then 2) select a play we wanted to act in. My play did not get selected (not to worry, I may be reinacting it at some point) , but this was the play we selected. It was kinda lame, so we made it a comedy, keeping all the lines, but making it less soap opera'esque. The play is called TRUTH. I play a character named James... and yes, I know thay my fly is undone and my shirt is hanging out through the hole... part of my character. "Lisa", the director, the playwright, and the name of the course I can not disclose to protect those involved, but we had fun with it. The original script, written by a classmate, was a serious conversation over dinner about James's feeling for his beloved Lisa and her recipricating those feelings. Since there were no stage directions with the script, with only a handful of minor alterations and keeping the the majority of the lines the same, we took a creative perspective on what could have been a very stereotypical soap opera/ sitcom situation... we made it more "everyday", but made it less of a sappy fancy dinner production... So, here's the storyline: Lisa works in a diner. She is finishing out her day when her annoying and somewhat awkward neighbor James comes to visit her. James dresses poorly, speaks with a strange voice, and has not dated anyone in a LONG TIME. He is interested in Lisa, but she tries hard to let him down easy as she can... watch and see if she is able to or if there is a peculiar twist at the end. Enjoy

Jul 21, 2008 - I guess you aren't gonna tell them who the camera lady is then either, are you?!... hmph! Well, the playwright was one of those girls sitting in the front row... and she was NOT happy with the changes you guys made, LOL... but most of the class enjoyed it! Good job!
