The album Hicksville is the only release by the musical project Celtic Cross. This is the track 'Hicksville' from that album. This track is featuring Matt Coldrick from Green Nuns Of The Revolution. Released November 1998 Genre Downtempo, Dub, Celtic folk, Goa Trance, Ambient, psychedelic Label Liquid Sound Design If you like Shpongle, you ought to listen to this album as well - the sound is very much alike, even though Simon Posford is working with Youth here, and not Raja Ram. The opener "Hicksville" immediately had its grip on me when it starts away with that mighty clashing sound after the intro break. A wonderful journey through electronic music! --------- Celtic Cross was an unusual collaboration of Simon Posford (Hallucinogen, Shpongle), Martin Glover (bassist from Killing Joke) and Saul Davies (violinist from James). The style of music was not psychedelic trance (although their album sometimes considered a psychedelic trance album), but rather psychedelic ambient/dub with ethnic influences. The cover of the Hicksville album was designed by Mark Neal, the same artist who worked on Posford's Twisted and The Lone Deranger, as well as the Shpongle albums. ------------ Martin "Youth" Glover (born December 27, 1960) is an influential record producer and a founding member and bassist of the UK band Killing Joke. Glover was born in Africa. His Butterfly Records label has produced such artists as Take That, Tom Jones, The Orb, Paul McCartney, Maria McKee and Heather Nova. Youth was the co-producer of The Verve's famous Urban Hymns album, Guns N' Roses' as-yet unreleased Chinese Democracy and Dolores O'Riordan's 'Are You Listening?' album[1]. He also produced and remixed for other bands including Embrace, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Art of Noise, Crowded House, Zoe, P.M. Dawn, Yazoo, Erasure, U2, Bananarama, INXS, James, Wet Wet Wet, Depeche Mode, The Shamen, Texas and Gravity Kills. Youth won the Producer Of The Year award in 1998 for his work on The Verve album Urban Hymns. Glover is also credited with founding the first psychedelic trance record label, Dragonfly Records. Youth also formed other record labels such as Liquid Sound Design and Kamaflage Records. He is well known on the psychedelic trance scene and participated in collaborations such as Celtic Cross (with Simon Posford), The Fireman (with Paul McCartney), Dub Trees (with Greg Hunter etc.), and Zodiac Youth. He is a member of the band Transmission with Simon Tong (of The Verve), Paul Ferguson (of Killing Joke) and Tim Bran (of Dreadzone) which has released a single called "Noctolucent" and an album "Beyond Light" in 2006.[1] He has also played guitar on several tracks on the 2007 Client album "Heartland". Currently, (as of autumn 2007) he is producing the forthcoming Infadels album for Wall Of Sound. ------------------------ Hallucinogen is the stage name of Simon Posford (born 1971), an electronic musician specializing in Goa trance music from England. His early work is as an engineer on the T.I.P.(Raja Ram) and Dragonfly(Youth) labels. His first album, Twisted, was one of the most widely influential electronic music recordings of its time and helped to define the psychedelic trance genre. The follow-up album, The Lone Deranger, only cemented his influence. From then on, Posford ventured into numerous collaborations with other artists. His most notable projects involve artists such as Raja Ram (Shpongle), Martin Glover (Celtic Cross) and Prometheus a.k.a. Benji Vaughan (Younger Brother). The vocalists he uses most often in his music are Michele Adamson and Abigail Gorton. Though pooling his talent from a host of worldly influences, many of his fans will attest that he has the "Posford Touch", a certain unmistakable quality to the sound of his music, that is revered by psychedelic and electronic enthusiasts from around the world. He is renowned for his meticulous production skills and the multilayered depth his music has. These skills have led to recent production work outside the genre of Psytrance on the album "Valid Path" by Alan Parsons. He is also the co-founder of Twisted Records with Simon Holtom (previously manager of Youth's Dragonfly label), which is one of the most influential psychedelic trance record labels. A track by Hallucinogen, called 'Bubble n' Tweak,' is featured in the Gran Turismo 4 video game. In 2002, In Dub was released, a collection of Ott dub remixes of Hallucinogen tracks. ------- There's also a good remix of this song.

Jun 28, 2008 - Absolutely love the psybient scene, full of great energy and vibe. It's great to see that alot of the old vets are working on things even after their more psytrance traditions. Pulling out a ton of inspiration from all.
