Rivera bases another position on his racist tendencies.Promoting his view that if Barack Obama loses,it will be because of race, ergo:if you do not vote Obama you must be racist.Never mind how you feel about Obama's policies, history, lack of experience, scary list of friends and mentors, ego, elitism, and the general creepiness that surround Obama and his lunatic base.Another Rivera view concerning illegal immigration is also based on race. When debating the issue, geraldo centers on the law-breaking only being hispanic or mexican. When people argue the issue with rivera, they refer to illegal immigrants in general, not mentioning any race.Geraldo immediately jumps to the incorrect assertion that all illegal immigrants are from Mexico, and blames pro enforcement law abiding Americans as racist anti mexican xenophobes.I love all people regardless of race,I have a problem with people who ignore our laws and then take pride in using our Flag for toilet paper.Geraldo cannot stand up to a debate without using racism as a crutch,a cheap shot artist who avoids the issue by blaming anyone except those who could care less about our nations security.Michelle Malkin squared off against Geraldo Rivera on The O'Reilly Factor,on polar opposite sides of the illegal immigration question.Geraldo is only right about illegals committing crime at the same rate or less than legals,if you discount immigration law.If you keep immigration law in the equation, and you should, all illegal immigrants are by definition criminals they have committed at least one crime, and they continue to commit that crime every day that they stay here illegally. So they would rack up quite a record of law-breaking,if we merely enforced the laws that are on the books. Two,Geraldo likes to play up twin angles that are mutually contradictory. On the one hand, he wants compassion for illegals. On the other hand,he argues that theyre a net plus by paying Social Security taxes that theyll never get back, and that will go to citizens and legal residents.Well,is it compassionate to rake off billions in taxes from illegals, knowing that theyll never see that money again? That sounds an awful lot like legalized theft to me.I'm also struck that Geraldo mentioned"population transfer"a couple of times, insinuating that pro-enforcment folks like us just want to bus all the illegals out and that when we say we want the law enforced, thats really code for advocating a massive"population transfer."Yet he kept mentioning the figure of 12,000,000illegals being here, mostly from Mexico.Well, thats about 9percent of Mexicos entire population, thats here illegally right now.And that number is growing every day.So there is already a"population transfer"underway, and its coming north out of Mexico into the US.Now,because I had to edit it,I ended up leaving out one of Geraldos most ridiculous statements.Geraldo says that illegal immigration is the new gay marriage.I told you it was ridiculous. Its rare to see the difference between conservatives and liberals on such obvious display like it was in this debate.Geraldo resorted to emotional arguments throughout, and cited statistics without ever noting the source of those stats, and many of his stats arent even right. And he had to ignore some obvious things such as the inherent criminality of illegal immigrants to get anywhere near making a substantive point.Instead of making real points,he just kept ranting about"Pablo"and injecting race into the debate, and then accusing Michelle of injecting race when she clearly hadn't.Michelle cited facts and stats principles and rejected Geraldo's race-based pandering and innuendo.Geraldo often seemed at a loss for arguments, resorting to sighing or filibustering. Geraldo needs to hit the books if he wants to sound like he knows what hes talking about on immigration.Heres a suggestion for him.Geraldo is just a bad spokesman for a racialist view of immigration policy.

Aug 10, 2008 - Sorry I did not catch that sooner... thanks for the heads up, as I completely agree with you.

Aug 10, 2008 - I don't think Geraldo is being racist, I just think he is saying that people will lie to a pollster, and they will. Remember the exit polls from 2004? Also I think the beautiful promises of the early days of the Obama candidacy have been spoiled for a lot of people by reality and by the more they learn about the candidate. This will be a close election, decided by independents and Reagan Democrats. I loved Hillary's comment on the video!

Aug 11, 2008 - Geraldos 1st notion was that race is the sole reasonObama will not win.Obama was doing fine, nobody cared about his skin color,it wasnt till that revWright lunacy came out that his numbers tookAdive, with good reason,20years is a long time and a radical racist is a scary mentor/father figure.Idont agree withObama on issues, but he didnt scare me until the media finally started doing their job and checking Barack out.Geraldo always seems to"go there",on multiple issues, then he has 2go back rephrase.

Aug 11, 2008 - I see your point, Chris, I think race will play a role in the election but not the only role. Far more Americans see past color at this time in our history. However racial prejudice still hides its ugly head in plain sight. How many people lie to pollsters? No way to know. I agree that Geraldo has a long history of foot-in-mouth disease.

Aug 12, 2008 - Once again Geraldo's talking Fox nonsense. 40% Rep 40% Dem & 20% in the middle? Zogby and co would have a field day with the inanity of G's invented data.
Chris3cube Says:
Aug 12, 2008 - You know that when he loses... the Obamedia will claim that's the reason. "Well it seems the USA just was not ready for a black president, etc." I would not care what race or gender the person was, as long as they were the best person the country has to offer. BTW... which is your fav Dark Tower?
stephenkingrocks Says:
Aug 12, 2008 - I agree, I think it is time for a nonwhite or a woman to be president, but only if they are truly qualified, Chris, I'm embarrassed to say I've only read the Gunslinger. All the other volumes are sitting on my shelf. Somehow I always get distracted by the thriller of the month or the latest S King or a new Crichton. Thanks for reminding me, I must get back to the Dark Tower series. Did you read Duma Key?
Chris3cube Says:
Aug 13, 2008 - No, sure haven't... is that new? If you do read any Dark Tower, stop at part IV, I wish i would have, just my opinion that he lost somethin there in them last three, disapointed to say that.
stephenkingrocks Says:
Aug 13, 2008 - Zuma Key came out this summer, I loved it. Vintage King. I thought it was his best in years.
