May 21, 2008 - I dont know where you get you statistic from but 9 out of 10 seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. When I was a JW I found people to be quite versed in scripture, I also found that in order to get me to leave quickly so they could get on with their day they would appease me and just listen..Now that Im out people openly tell me these things..You are not superior to them in your knowledge of the bible, they just want you to go away...

May 21, 2008 - New-JW are versed only in the scriptures that the wt teach them, when you show them scriptures like "when two or more are gathered I am there also" they stumble and even ask where that is in the bible(mth 18:20) But if you say "Faith without works is dead" They know exactly what you are talking about..JW bible knowledge is based solely on what the wt preaches...

May 23, 2008 - It's interesting to me that most JW's don't know their organization's own history. The GB works hard to conceal it. The 1993 "Proclaimers of God's Kingdom" book does a nice job of rewriting their history. Why would they do this if they have nothing to hide? I guess ignorance is truly bliss. BTW, I was never a JW so I'm not an "evil" apostate. Blessings.......

May 23, 2008 - Cris Sanchez, and ex-JW Spanish Bible translator at Bethel in his testimony before members of the Governing Body said that they were `floored' by him quoting 1Jn 5:1 NWT: "Everyone believing that Jesus is the Christ has been born from God ...". Presumably the WT ignores it because it says that *every* true Christian is born again, not just the 144,000 `anointed' as the WT wrongly teaches.

Did you know Russell orginally came up with 1914 from measuring the steps of the Geiza pyramid? Did you also know that Ray Franz when writing the aid book tried to prove the destruction of Jerusalem in 607 bce and couldn't find one shred of evidence?

Rom.16:17-18 "mark them who cause divisions", "avoid them". 2John 10-11 "recieve him not into your house, neither bid him God speed", vs 11 if you do are "partaker of his evil deeds." 2Cor.4:1-4 provides answers to the blind.

It is historically extrabiblically established with no doubt that in Oct 6/7 539bce Cyrus defeated Nabonidus and took Babylon and 2 years later in 537bce released the Jews to their homeland. Jeremiah assigns 70 years to the Jews captivity under Babylon.(Jer.25:9-11) Do the math(537 + 70 years = 607bce) and the BIBLE shows clearly the date had to be 607bce. Prefering secular calculations to Biblical is a grave error. Do your Research.

Do you accept the data and methods that they use? Do you even know what they are? "and 2 years later in 537bce released the Jews to their homeland" Is this an established fact, or speculation? How do you know this for sure?

Jun 21, 2008 - Thank you for posting this. It is very relieving to hear a voice of reason that is not associated with the JW's. The indoctrination and mind control that you pointed out in you video are very real things. I was raised a JW, and it made me feel much better to know that other people can see how controlling and negative they are, to know that I'm not being delusional when I feel that they are a harmful organization. :)

So are the Pentacostals, the seventh day adventist, Independant Fundamental King James Only Baptist, The church of christ,...On and on. All of christianity is a cult. The bible (and there are many) is propoganda. You see that the JW's are brainwashed but you don't realize that you are too.

May 21, 2008 - An *excellent* book. I challenge JWs like NewAge to read it. Bowman has never been a JW, so is not an `apostate'. He is scholarly being expert in NT Greek, yet sympathetic, fair and kind to JWs. Other excellent books by Bowman that I recommend ex-JWs and JWs read are: "The Jehovah's Witnesses, Jesus Christ, and the Gospel of John"; "Understanding Jehovah's Witnesses: Why They Read the Bible the Way They Do"; & "Why You Should Believe in the Trinity: An Answer to Jehovah's Witnesses".
