Richard Simmons played the trustworthy Royal Northwest Mounted Policeman. His trusty "sidekick" was his malamute Yukon King. Both fought injustice in the Canadian Yukon Territory on our television sets each week. The show ran from 1955 through 1958 on CBS. It came on Thursday evenings at 7:30 and kept us entertained for 30 miutes. As with many early tv shows, Sgt. Preston originated on radio. At some point during the late 1950's/early 1960's, it either played on Saturday mornings in the central Indiana region, or it was an after school program. Which, at this point in time, I cannot remember.
