Here, it seems that I was assigned to do some W33D-killing. What a TDS chore... This player is no doubt really good at driving around without messing up, but W33D[TDS] is clearly a devoted Time Trialer, very rarely even bothering to block Red Shells. Race #5 Koopa Cape I don't even know how I managed to win this one. I'm glad that Spiny Shell came, but I think it shows how much I suck at Time Trials by how easily W33D caught up to me. Still...losing 20 points for being 2nd in a 4-person race? Life is harsh once you reach 9000. Match #6 SNES Ghost Valley 2 I panicked when I saw the Lightning Cloud when I tried to take the shortcut. Recovery after the shortcut is hard, since there's no turnout. I guess I've learned to avoid the shortcut when I'm afflicted by the Lightning Cloud. Race #7 Moo Moo Meadows I managed to fit a seventh race into this, and this is the last one I played today. I like to end on a positive note and quit while I'm ahead, though unfortunately the disconnections usually keep me below 7300. I think there's something programmed into the game where Blue Shells become more frequent the further out in front the 1st place player is compared to the 2nd-place player, and you can see it happen here. Blue Shells were pretty frequent in the races I didn't upload too, all of them happening when W33D pulls out too far in front. Oh yeah, and I like that Samir, using a kart and the Wii Wheel--and a lightweight character to boot.

May 17, 2008 - I've discovered that I race like a time trialer. If there's enough space for me to do so, I take lots of risks, especially on tracks like Rainbow Road, DK Summit, and Wario's Gold Mine. SNES Ghost Valley 2 is another one. I always take the shortcut, and I pray that no one behind me has lightning. It's a Mach Bike friendly shortcut too. Ugh...disconnections. I DC'd twice this morning and dropped to around 6980, and you know I was pissed. I wish DC's didn't count toward the VR, but whatever.

May 17, 2008 - I wish the game could distinguish a purposeful disconnection from one caused by interference. Metroid Prime Hunters could distinguish them, and that was an early Wi-Fi game by a 3rd-party company, so Mario Kart Wii has no excuse.

May 17, 2008 - Um, are Expert Staff Ghosts also called Fast Staff Ghosts?

May 17, 2008 - Is this on Mirror Mode? If so, how can you do online Mirror Mode?
LLAMALOVER657657657 Says:
May 17, 2008 - Yes.
Rinsting Says:
May 17, 2008 - Lol, yeah, I kinda realized that the Moment I got Funky Kong. Thanks.
Overhazard Says:
May 17, 2008 - I don't know what the conditions are, but I didn't see it until I unlocked Mirror Mode. Thus, I think the condition is that every player in the race has to have unlocked Mirror Mode for it to appear online.

May 18, 2008 - AHAHAHAHA!! Your opening on that video's description just cracked me up!
Overhazard Says:
May 18, 2008 - VR stands for Versus Ranking. It's not a dumb question; it's explained in one tiny portion of the instruction manual and never anywhere else, and I only picked it up on my second read-through.
Overhazard Says:
May 18, 2008 - Sometimes. The game sometimes puts you in a room with people who have similar VRs as you, sometimes slightly higher, and sometimes they just mix everything up and put in everything. Say, I have a question to ask you: Can you see your comment that originally asked what VR stands for? I can't see it. it's disappeared for me.
GeneralSecura Says:
May 18, 2008 - Hey Overhazard, have you already unlocked Dry Bowser? My friend is having real problems with it and would like some tips, if possible.
Overhazard Says:
May 18, 2008 - Actually, I haven't unlocked Dry Boser yet. That was my next thing to do for Mario Kart Wii. I have gotten at least a 1-Star ranking on every Mirror Mode cup though, and I think that if I can 1-star those, I can 1-star 150cc.
Overhazard Says:
May 18, 2008 - I get the feeling that Blue Shells become more common the wider the lead is between 1st and 2nd, since this W33D guy zoomed away in nearly every race and I saw multiple Blue Shells hapen nearly every time.
dalandb4time Says:
May 20, 2008 - Actually, not now... Weird huh?
qazqazdabest Says:
May 27, 2008 - LOL this W33D guy plays similarly to me. I'm not really that good with items, but have beaten like 25 of the expert staff ghosts on time trial... Daisy with the Mach Bike, best combo ever!
Overhazard Says:
May 28, 2008 - I've traditionally been the other way around. I'm an average driver with Mario Kart, but I can slow people down with items very well.
TMW001 Says:
Jun 6, 2008 - Man at the begging of the race that player you were racing against held onto the lead for a long time lucky you caught up.
Rinsting Says:
Jun 10, 2008 - Snes Ghost Valley 2 don't look some hot on your video capture device.
4514nj35u5 Says:
Jun 13, 2008 - It doesn't really look hot anyway.
Rinsting Says:
Jun 13, 2008 - I meant, you can't see much.
Overhazard Says:
Jun 14, 2008 - Ah, it's like that playing the actual game too. There's a weird black fog in SNES Ghost Valley 2 that prevents you from seeing too far. As I never had Super Mario Kart, I had to rely on the map to know where I was going for the first week or so I had this game. Mirror Mode still trips me up.

Caniki Says:
May 17, 2008 - Damn, hit by a blue shell right before the finish line. I bet he was furious.
