Go to a grocery store in the United States of America, and you will find it challenging to determine the nation of origin of that food item. It has become an issue since large quantities of tainted and poison foods are being imported into the United States. The United States Congress refused to pass legislation authorizing such truth in labeling. That is because the Congress has been purchased by the food importers. Yet in Australia and Japan, the food importers were not successful in purchasing the legislative bodies of those countries. Because in Australia and Japan food must be identified as to its nation of origin. It would be nice if in the United States we had a representative government. What a joke.

May 19, 2008 - Chinese rich families in China don't eat the rice made in China but imported products from Japan, which are about 10 times more expensive than products in China. Chinese knows well about their compatriots and their products.

May 20, 2008 - We can pass a law that outlaws socialism.
USAGymnast Says:
May 20, 2008 - What if us here in the US only bought food products where they're labeled as to where they come from. That would put pressure on the companies that don't label their food products to make them label their products of origin.
PropagandaBuster Says:
May 20, 2008 - Excellent idea. But you can not find a food product that says "a product of the USA," or "made in the USA." It seems like the food industry in the USA agreed to keep it a secret so they would not identify those products not produced in the USA. Someone suggested we get our food from farmers markets and organic. We just need a Congress which reprents us.
USAGymnast Says:
May 21, 2008 - At my local grocery store, there are some produce items that list where they come from. Also farmer's markets are the best places to go buy produce. Since Congress isn't going to represent us, we have to take matters into our own hands and buy produce where we know it's being grown.
Raymasaki Says:
May 22, 2008 - you are so FULL of Shit! my strawberry jam says-product of Denmark lachoysweetnsour - product of canada paprika - product of Hunagry tomatosauce - product of Italy ALL of the products say where there from.
DrBenDoverHere Says:
May 22, 2008 - The point is there is no law that makes country of origin labelling compulsory. Can you honestly tell me you know where your fresh fruit and vegetables originate from?
Raymasaki Says:
May 22, 2008 - yeah most from south america & in the US. hes refering to Labeled Products & he is assuming Most products, Just look on the labels in a Foodmarket. IF it comes from another country & then says made in the USA Then yeah thats a LIE. they should make it a Law i agree on that, BUT theres SO many items i see that say Made in, italy, sweden, germany (plastics - made in china)
GOMAPAO Says:
May 23, 2008 - これは知らなかった。アメリカでも書かないとダメだよ。
DAIGORO14 Says:
May 24, 2008 - true but they dont say where they were grown to say made they could have just been processed there a wee bit.
DAIGORO14 Says:
May 24, 2008 - even if it says made it doesn't mean it was grown there lol product of america all that has to mean is that the foods final processing was in the states thats all.
PropagandaBuster Says:
May 24, 2008 - So when Japan and Australia have truth in labeling on their food products is serves no purpose to the people of those two nations?
Raymasaki Says:
May 25, 2008 - ok mybe true but also with other countries lables Food has to come from somewhere.
Waychel Says:
May 30, 2008 - I agree with you on this issue. However I think that it is more difficult to identify the country of origin for all produce used in a single product, than it is to identify the country of origin for produce (as seen in the pictures). General Mills for example purchases honey both nationally and internationally to sweeten the many cereal brands under their name. These honeys are mixed together during the production phase to create multiple batches, and honey is merely one ingredient to track...
PropagandaBuster Says:
May 30, 2008 - Why is it other countries can do it?
Waychel Says:
May 30, 2008 - I cannot speak for other countries, but I believe that in Japan it is only produce and single commodities (such as honey, jam, etc.) which are labeled. General Mills cereals are sold in Japan and to my knowledge the consumer is not informed as to where the actual honey, corn, sugar, and other commodities in the cereal were grown/processed.
gdollman5 Says:
Jun 10, 2008 - Democracy is lost unless you vote them out??? WTF
PropagandaBuster Says:
Jun 10, 2008 - IMTM
gdollman5 Says:
Jun 10, 2008 - hey, you sure are. I live in Australia and food labelling is ok: but there is no legislation to say food must display whether it is GM or not. As for democracy it is only democracy when the people are informed. What we have now is a departure from the ancient greek idea of democracy. As long as corporate media rules the lives of the majority then there won't be any change any time soon. Keep up the good work.
PropagandaBuster Says:
Jun 10, 2008 - You are correct about democracy. In the USA a representative democracy is only a façade, nothing but a joke.
saadasim Says:
Jun 12, 2008 - Freedom of speech is when you have the right to say what you want. Democracy is when the government listens.

AUSsupportTerrorist Says:
May 18, 2008 - Even some flowers sold in the U.S. are imported from Africa with current supply chain net work. There will be even fresh vegitables imported from china in the U.S.
