Jul 17, 2008 - In this territory traditionally occupied by tenors, Gobbi apparently feels quite comfortable and his voice here (recorded in the mid or late 1940s?) is heard to be warm and, where appropriate, passionate. 'Torna' in particular is a most beautiful song and I wonder why more singers do not include it in their repertoires. Sergio Franchi is the only other singer whose recording of it I have heard, although no doubt there are other versions.
