I set out to do a light hearted video making some tender jabs at what I remembered to be a wholesome yet unfunny comic strip. That was going to be my point - that the Family Circus is neither a strip, nor is it comical and has no business being on the same page with funnies that are actually funny (though most of them only on a blue moon and on accident). I have found, however, that the world of Bil Keane's Family Circus is no longer so-sweet-it-makes-your-teeth-hurt. Those melon headed kids are suffering from nearly every abuse imaginable. No wonder that even though the "kids" would be in their fifties by now, they still act like maladjusted nincompoops. It isn't funny, it isn't even amusing. The most shocking thing of all in the Family Circus isn't found in the modern "strip". You have to dig all the way back to the sixties to find the root of when the Family Circus began their spiral into hell. What I have found is so disturbing, I can't describe it here. You'll have to watch the video to find it... but, please... send the kids out of the house. It's not for tender young minds. Oh, and sorry for the extreme close-ups in the video. I really had never seen these "comics" before and was trying to make out the details.
