The beginning of St John's Gospel, commented on by Erasmus of Rotterdam. Singing this as a Gregorian Chant 'lectio' is unusual. It refers to an ancient habit of singing comments from Church Fathers like Augustinus. Singing from Erasmus' texts is probably very unhistorical - but not less interesting... Chant group Psallentes has done things like this on several occasions. This one is from the cd Etienne de Liège: In festo sanctissimae Trinitatis, Ricercar 249. The singer is Hendrik Vanden Abeele. Listen to other fragments of the Erasmus-text on cd. The video addendum shows all Psallentes-members except Pieter Coene and Hendrik Vanden Abeele getting ready for a photoshoot in Antwerp, Carolus Borromeus church. http://www.psallentes.be discs available at www.ricercar.be
