Jul 1, 2008 - Yep, but "in order to beat the standard GTR the ZR1 had to have 168hp more and weigh 500 pounds less. To beat it by only 3 seconds on a 10 mile track should be embarrassing!!!!!! I do however give Chevy credit. Its still a good car. Better than the crap they were making in the 90's" lol

Jul 2, 2008 - and its tires have a tread wear rating of 220. thats the real amzing part, same reason 997 turbo couldn't handle nearly as well as a gt-r. they both look a lot better than the retarded face gt-r. i hated the zo6 but the body kit on the zr1 looks alright. in real life, a porsche 911 in shiny paint is beatuiful.

Jul 2, 2008 - I have not seen the GT-R in real life yet, but you can pretty much guarantee that these cars always look better in real life than in photos.
youlikemyusername Says:
Jul 2, 2008 - Btw, you seem to have forgotten that the Porsche 997 GT2 packs Pilot Sport Cups -which are also have a UTQG rating of 220 PLUS a softer compound giving even better grip- and the GT-R still blew it away by 3 seconds. Therefore the excuse that 220 rating tires are the reason the GT-R blew the 911 Turbo into the weeds while orbiting the moon a few times is invalid I'm afraid.
youlikemyusername Says:
Jul 2, 2008 - Oh, and btw, in terms of pure performance/cost, the GT-R owns all of them. But i suppose if your main concern was how good you looked while driving around, and how much of an impression you can make on other people, then you're definitely better off going with the car that makes you look better.. that is, if you're more of a photo-shoot kind of guy. lol

Jul 3, 2008 - yea yea yea the GTR is it faster but thing thing is that the Zonda is raw horsepower!!!! no turbo/twinturbo or superchager, no boost what so ever. 650 raw horsepower
youlikemyusername Says:
Jul 3, 2008 - We werent talkng about the Zonda, just the GTR and ZR1. Both are great cars of course, and so is the Zonda, but the lap times they produce @ the nurb must be put in the proper perspective, otherwise people end up misleading others with comments like "Oh but the GTR only does good with it's 220 rated tires" <-- As i just pointed out to you, this is entirely incorrect, as the GT2 sports 220 rated tires that have a softer compound, but the GTR still beat it by 3 seconds.
venomviper32 Says:
Jul 3, 2008 - i know about those, ive heard those things have a tread wear of 80. maybe why the gt3 has been through the slalom at 75.3 mph. im kinda confused, i thought the gt-r's ratings were 140 and 280 for bridgestone and dunlop respectively. tires seem to make a huge difference as the vette always wins le mans but the tread wear of 80 viper destroys the road car on the corners. the zonda, is actually one of my top ten cars, the interior and benchmark mercedes sound (from growl to whine?) are simply great

Jul 3, 2008 - the gt-r really looks weird, the headlamps look like, well, i think youll understand. i dont get why gt2 couldnt beat gt-r, car and driver took them to ~2:00 buttonwillow and beat gt-r by 2 seconds, viper acr beat gtr by a full 6. this mightve been the 415 whp gtr instead of the jap 475 WHP. i say this because steve millen got the gtr around 1 second slower than c/d got the viper. the best comparo will be when top gear takes it round their track. only thing fun about gtr is handling though.
youlikemyusername Says:
Jul 3, 2008 - Steve Millen is no mug behind the wheel either, so when he gets 1 second off, you know it's authentic. I dunno about the headlamps.. i think it's forgivable.. *shrugs* it's just a personal thing i think. Personal taste and performance cant be confused. If you take out the personal likes/dislikes bit, all you're left with is straight performance figures and that will tell you how much bang you get for your buck. I think that's the main point to focus on.
youlikemyusername Says:
Jul 3, 2008 - I did hear a rumor that the 997 GT2 actually nailed 7:25 around the Nurburgring, but that it was omitted because Porsche did not want to upstage the Carrera GT's time of 7:28 *shrugs*.. it's food for thought, but no confirmation at this stage. I do hope however that Walter Rolrh gets to do another lap in it though.. I dont see any reason why it shouldn't be able to get lower than 7:30, after all it has 530bhp and weighs only 1440kgs/3168lbs, not to mention the semi-slick MSCP's it wears!
youlikemyusername Says:
Jul 3, 2008 - All credit to both Nissan and Chevy though for taking it to Porsche... they've introduced a new breed of sports car - affordable yet very high performance. Not many car manufacturers can say that.
venomviper32 Says:
Jul 3, 2008 - as much as i hate the gtr, i still would rather have one of those than the z06. that vette looks awful, and that buddle dome back doesnt help. i wish road and track would just get these cars and take them to the ring, i trust steve more than c/d. chrysler finally let c/d compare acr to gtr, an the gt2 and underrated viper put that thing where it belongs (below purpose built performance cars on a track). about the gt2 and ring, why would porsche defend the cgt, base ps2s and gtr shouldinspirethem
mr2ya Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - zonda sounds great! looks scary compared to GTR vid, probably because the weight and all the computers. bang for your buck, i would take the GTR over the vette supercar, prob Ascari A10 over Zonda. BUT if i had that kinda money, take a ferrari F430 or Gallardo new springs&shocks , wider rims&tires , (PROPER) twin turbo setup, try to get 7-750whp on less than 12psi, it would give just about anything a ran for its money. BTW has an Ascari ran the ring yet? anyone anyone?

Jul 8, 2008 - Well how bout the elise? did you get the time of 7'14.656.?

Jul 11, 2008 - video looks weird. it might be because of high contrast and all, but when i watched it at first, i thought it was a videogame like forza or gran turismo

Jul 12, 2008 - The Corvette ZR1 got 7:26.4 beating this rip off

Jul 15, 2008 - To be honest, that car is exeptionally hard to manage.

Jul 17, 2008 - It's amazing how detailed the Gran Turismo tracks are. The track detail is almost exactly the same in Gran Turismo as it is on this.
kingnismor34 Says:
Jul 19, 2008 - But most are forgetting the ENTIRE picture why the he!! would I go buy a car based off lap times on ONE track? 99.3% of you wouldnt even see a track in one of these cars let alone the Nurburgring. Regardless of price I would still take the Zonda over both the ZR1 and GT-R and I am a fan of all 3.

Jul 23, 2008 - Have you driven one?
