I just found these yesterday during the last day of the spring cleanup. All quality bikes. No cheapies! I fix, and resell them.

May 16, 2008 - That is a great couple of finds. I especially like the Puch. The Raleigh is an easy sell. I will have to check with the dump here to see if they have a time to sift through their goods.

May 17, 2008 - Sweet bikes! I'm starting to collect "Junk" too, I've got a nice mower I can get $65 for easy, and a guy I know who works at a dump is looking out for more mowers for me^^

May 17, 2008 - Yeah i gotta go to the dump again myself to look for a band brake cable connector for my Murray mower since it was missing. I will just take a couple of old vacuum motors that were broken so i look like i am actually dumping something there!

May 23, 2008 - Hey id buy that light generator thing off ya if it works.... Let me know

craig1974 Says:

May 23, 2008 - You would not wanna buy that thing dude. Besides it does not work anyways. If it did work i would of junked it anyways. It took pedal power out of the rear wheel like you wouldnt believe. If you want a good generator light set i would suggest finding an older Hiller or Schwinn approved set.

May 23, 2008 - The Raleigh Grand Prix is currently being slowly worked on. I installed the new chain, but the bottom bracket seized. I regreased the bottom bracket, but i found that the center shaft was stripped, so i could not bolt the cranks. Also the fork bearings were seizeing. I removed the fork, and the bearings were not in retainers spilling the bearings all over. Luckily i have a Grand Prix parts frame.

May 29, 2008 - They're not Huffy's; they're all quality bikes- LOL! Huffy bikes ARE junk. Good Schwinn bikes are hard to find but when you get one hang on to it especially if it's a road bike!

May 29, 2008 - My buddy is convinced that the Wal-Mart bikes are quality bikes. I thought so too for awhile until i looked at some of the components on the Wal-Mart bikes. After seeing them i predicted the derailurs would fly into the spokes after awhile. I guess people have to learn the hard way if you cannot convince them. I only sell Huffys or etc cheap bikes that are over 20 years old, and in good shape for reasonable prices. Some people overprice those used cheap bikes.

Jun 4, 2008 - money! money! money! you would be suprised what they bring on ebay! the thrift shops are going corporate on us!

Jun 24, 2008 - I have a GMC Denali Road Bike from WalMart. It is a pretty good quality bike. I guess that's why walmart hardly sells it lol, but I have never had any major problems out of it. The bicycles you should really stay away from are NEXT, Huffy, Roadmaster, and any bicycles there with "WM" in the model number

craig1974 Says:

Jun 24, 2008 - Yeah i seen some GMC bicycles at the local Dunhams sporting goods store. Good bike i guess, but heavy. I usually dont touch big box store bicycles like the brands you mentioned. Unless they are over 20 years old, and in superior condition.

Jul 1, 2008 - God damn you get lucky as hell. poo-zhow (pueguet), its french. I usually pick them up for 20 bucks, but man you have some expensive bikes there.

ralphp1800 Says:

Jul 1, 2008 - pooh-szhow. That's the best I can do. PEugoet.

Jul 4, 2008 - I wanted to do the same thing that you do but when I went to the thrift store they wanted $75.00 for a vintage road bike. But it needed all new tires all new cables and chaing and lots more tlc.

Jul 5, 2008 - Thrift shops get crazy on pricing. It all depends on whos doing it. The Goodwills are pretty pricey. The Salvation Army's are even worst than the Goodwill's. The Salvation Army store near my house changed management during the winter time, but must of changed management again since the prices skyrocketed. I think the reason my thrift shops prices are so low is they get a large volume of items in, and have to price low to rotate the flock.
