Soon it is late at night and everybody gets tired. Natalee: [yawning] Nick Nick: Yeah babe Natalee: I'm so tired. [they are sitting on a couch in the waiting room and Natalee leans against Nick.] Nick: Do you want to go to bed? Natalee: No, Nick, we don't have to leave. I know you want to stay here with Kevin. Nick: You can go to sleep here. Natalee: [in Nick's arms] Thank you. [goes to sleep with Nick running his hand through her hair.] Steph: How long has Joe been in there? Emily: I guess he just has a lot to say to Kevin. Steph: I want to see him. Doctor: [comes in] You folks can go in three at a time now. Steph: Oh thank you. Emily: Wait Steph. Let Natalee and Nick go, they haven't seen him yet. Steph: Alright. [Nickalee goes into Kevin's room and they see Joe sitting on the floor next to Kevin's bed.] Nick: Hey dude... you alright? Joe: [looks up startled] Huh? Oh hey guys. Yeah I'm fine. He just looks so lonely... I'm going to leave and let Steph get in here to see him again. Nick: Alright. [Joe goes into the waiting room] Joe: Stephanie you can go. Steph: Okay thanks Joe. [goes] Joe: It's just you and me now. Emily: Yeah. [stands up] Joe: [wraps his arms around her waist] Emily: [rests her chin on his shoulder] Joe: [does the same] Hey, Em? Emily: Yeah? Joe: There's something I want to talk to you about, but I don't want it to turn into an argument or a fight. Emily: Let's sit down. [they sit on the couch and Joe takes Emily's hand.] Joe: You... love... Kevin, ...don't you. Emily: Of course I love Kevin. Joe: No, I mean like... the way that you love me. Emily: [silent for a while] Joe: Well..? Emily: Maybe, I do, some. [quiet voice] Joe: Does... do you know if... he loves you? Emily: He loves Stephanie more. But... yeah, he does.. Joe: Do you love him... more than me? Emily: [starts to cry] Joe! Stop interrogating me! Joe: I'm trying not to be mad, love, listen. I'm not trying to break up with you. I just need to know. Emily: Joe, I love you more than anything and anyone in the whole world. Joe: Would you ever choose him over me? Emily: Did you hear what I just said? Joe: I'm sorry. Emily: Why are you asking me all this anyway? Joe: I wanted to know who you loved. So I could do whatever I can to make you happy. I mean, if you did love Kevin more than me, I would let you. Emily: Oh. I love you. Joe: That's what I was hoping for. [kisses her] Emily: [kisses back] The next day, Stephanie was still at the hospital. She had stayed with Kevin. Everyone at the Jonas house woke up, had breakfast, and went to see Kevin. [Joe, Emily, Nick, Natalee] At the hospital- Steph: Hey guys. Nick: How's Kevin? Steph: He's doing good. Natalee: Is he awake? Steph: Not yet. But we can all go in there. Joe: Great [they all go into Kevin's room.] Emily: Hey... guys... could I get a minute alone with him? Everyone: Sure [they walk out] Emily: [sits down next to Kevin] Hey. I know you can't hear me but I just want to say I love you. Not the way I love Joe, but you're one of the best friends I ever had. And I think we should put all this drama behind us and go back to how things were. Kevin: I'd like that Emily: Kevin! You're awake? Kevin: Am I? I'm not dead? Emily: [laughs] No, of course not! [shouting toward the door] Hey guys, he's awake! [everyone comes in] Steph: Kevin! Kevin: I heard what you said last night... Steph: How? Kevin: I don't know. I think I heard it in my dream. Steph: What were you dreaming of? Kevin: I had a dream I was at a hotel in LA. And I bumped into you for the first time. Steph: That's how we met... Kevin: Yeah. Steph: When you first asked me out, you said Please be Mine. Kevin: I know. Cheesy. Steph: I didn't think it was cheesy. [they notice everyone had left to give them privacy] Kevin: [sits up and kisses her] Steph: [kisses back]
