I started playing drums at age 16 although I wanted to start earlier. I bought Roland V-Drums in 1998 when they first came out. I use real cymbals because they sound better and I no longer live in an apartment so I don't have to worry about noise. I have three microphones on the cymbals mixed by a 8 Track Alesis USB mixer. The video is done by a Logitech webcam using the mixer's output as the audio source. I have a DBX compressor/noise gate and Alesis Microverb connected to the mixer through the effects buses. My drumming influences begin with listening to my Uncle's band back in the late 70s. His drummer was unbelievable. I didn't really get "interested" in music though until I was 16. Rush, U2, Led Zep & Metallica entered my life in a big way. I also took interest in Pat Metheny, Tony Williams & Paul Simon and that was a nice balance to all the rock and metal I was taking in. I discovered at 18 that I could not get any better on my own. I found an awsome instructor in Russ Moy. (www.russmoydrumstudio.com) If not for him I may have stopped playing by age 19.
